(Bathtub) Royal Air Force R.A.F. Flameproof Key. This type key was used in British bombers during W.W.II.

(Bathtub) Royal Air Force R.A.F. Flameproof Key. September 1966. New unpacked after 46 years.

This was the standard key used in British (and Canadian) bombers such as the Lancaster, Halifax and Wellington aircraft during WWII. It is enclosed for use in explosive environments.

The wire terminals are on top, and the adjustments are inside.

The clip holds the cover closed, and can also be slipped over the skirt of the knob to hold it down and so send out a continuous signal.

This allowed the radio operator to parachute out of a damaged plane while still sending a homing signal for rescue craft.

Made for the British Navy. Circa 1930.

British Morse Telegraph Key . Admy. Patt. 65485 (Navy) Serial No STR. 62

Royal Navy Admiralty Pattern "A.P.65485" Morse telegraph key complete with the rare cover.

"ADMIRALTY PATTERN No 65485 KEY MORSE STR.& Co Ltd. SERIAL No. STR.62. YEAR 1952".

Manufacturer STR & Co is the same company as Stratton that made Eddystone Radios.

The key with cover measures approx 4 & 3/4" by 3" and 3 & 1/2" high inc. knob (120mm by 75mm by 90mm). Weight of the key is about 1Kg.

Key. WT 8AMP keys were made in over 100 versions in 6 countries and in huge quantities starting in the 1920’s. They were used by the British armed forces

Complete layout of the Training Set Universal, Wireless, No.1. Each of the 36 operator's control units contained a Key WT 8 Amp. The "reception set" was a broad” for voice and operator training

Small key. Made by several factories. This keys was used on British and Australian radios. It is completely sealed and waterproof and has non adjustable contacts which require about 283g pressure and have 3mm travel.

The GPO single current keys are based on a design that originates from the 1830's and built by many makers, including Walters Electrical, GPO factories at Silvertown, Holloway in London, ATM Liverpool.
